Our terms and conditions of business set out more specific details about how we do business with you and what you can expect from us when you engage our services.

How we conduct our business with you …

We operate a bespoke service for the refurbishing, repair, part-exchange and sale of Apple Mac products and our website is – https://shoreditchmacs.co.uk

By entering into any agreement with us, you agree to be bound by our terms and conditions of business in their entirety. Should you have any queries or concerns about the services we offer then please ensure you raise these with us prior to entering into any contract or agreement with us.

Our repair service …

We offer a full repair service on Apple Mac products.

Should you choose to send a product to us for repair, then the product remains your sole responsibility until such time as we receive it.  We therefore recommend that any products sent to us via post done so by way of recorded delivery, courier or other secure method.  We also request that you document the condition of the item being sent to us – for example, by taking photographs of it prior to it being mailed. Please note that we cannot be held responsible for any damage sustained to your product whilst in transit.

We will not be held responsible for any loss, recovery or compromise of data/software/programs, or loss of use of your product or other equipment arising out of the services provided to us. However, in the event that we are able to recover data we will only retain this on our secure server for ten working days, following which it will be deleted from our system.  You can provide us with a hard drive for the purpose of data storage but we cannot be held liable for this; nor can we guarantee that your data will be stored either in part or in full.  We also accept no responsibility for any other associated accessories you may send to us with your product including (but not limited to), extra cases, cables or chargers.

When we receive your product we will acknowledge its safe receipt at the earliest opportunity.

Thereafter, if any other issues arise during the repair process we will notify you as soon as possible and will also give you an estimate prior to continuing with the repair.  Please note that labour and/or parts may not be included in our initial estimate but will need to be paid for in full prior to us returning the product to you.

Please note that we cannot be held responsible for the amount of time it may take for us to receive a quote from our repair centre, nor for any events which are outside of our reasonable control (such as the unavailability of required parts).  However, if we feel we will be unable to honour your order we will notify you of this as soon as practicably possible and/or will take all reasonable steps to minimise the effect of any delay.  Provided we do this we will not be liable for delays but if there is a risk of substantial delay you may contact us to end the contract and receive a full refund for any products you have paid for but not received.

A diagnostics fee will also be payable and the charge for this will be notified to you when placing an order with us.

When undertaking repairs, we may use parts or products that are new or equivalent to new condition in terms of both reliability and performance.

Our warrant for repairs is ninety days from the date of service.

If we identify that previous repairs have been undertaken to the item from another repair centre then we will not be held liable for any subsequent fault and you may be asked to sign a disclaimer in this regard.

If the service provided to you involves transferring information or installing software then you represent that you have the legal right to copy the information and agree to the terms of the software license and you authorise us to transfer the information and accept such terms on your behalf in performing the service.

Please note we will not be held liable for special, indirect, incidental or consequential damages resulting from services provided or under any other legal theory, including but not limited to, loss of revenue, loss of actual or anticipate profits (including loss of profits on contracts), loss of the use of money, loss of anticipated savings, loss of business, loss of opportunity, loss of goodwill, loss of reputation, loss of, damage to, or corruption of data, or any costs of recovering, programming or restoring any program or data stored or used with your product and any failure to maintain the confidentiality of data stored on your product.

Repaired items will not be returned until such time as payment has been made to us in full.

If you fail to collect your item within ninety days then we reserve the right to sell the item at market cost and recover the cost for any outstanding invoice.

About our purchasing service …

We will consider the purchase of any Apple products which you may wish to sell.  Should you wish us to consider a purchase then we request two working days within which to fully test the item prior to issuing you with a decision as to whether we would purchase it.

Once we have agreed that we will purchase an item then we will require Government issued identification and bank details from you.  We aim to make payment within 48 hours but cannot be held responsible for any delays outside of our control.

About our delivery service …

We will advise you in advance of any proposed deliveries, including items that have been repaired and any hardware sold.

Should you be unavailable to accept the delivery then you must notify us in advance of the item being posted to you.

Failure to receive a delivery may result in further costs associated with future deliveries or re-deliveries.  We require that all deliveries are signed for.

Our free pick-up and delivery service only applies to those repairs totalling £100.00 or more.  All invoices for less than £100.00 will attract postage costs which will be added to the final invoice.

All pick-up arrangements will be handled by our courier service, unless you prefer to use your own courier, in which case you will be responsible for their charges.

All deliveries will be made once the final invoice has been paid in full and we do our best to ensure delivery on the next working day, although this may take longer for reasons outside of our control.

Checkmend …

By entering into a contract or agreement with us, you understand that should you wish to sell an item to us then it will be subject to check mend.  Should an adverse report be received on check mend then we reserve the right to retain the item until further investigations have taken place and we will inform the police without giving you notice should we consider this necessary.

Should we identify that any product has been stolen then we reserve the right to recover any associated costs from you and/or notify the police.

About our warranties …

Our Warranty ensures that our products are free from material defects and are of satisfactory quality within the meaning of the Sale of Goods Act 1979.

The warranty period on parts used during repairs is for six months, commencing on the date the item is invoiced.  This date may be prior to you collecting your item from us.

Where an item is still under Apple warranty or has existing AppleCare then these will take precedence over the warranty offered by us.

The warranty is for the parts supplied by us only. If the part has been replaced since or the fault is elsewhere on the item, then you may be liable for a diagnosis fee.

If any subsequent repairs or work are carried out under the terms of our warranty then this does not extend the warranty period.

Our Warranty has certain limitations, namely:

  • Liquid damage

 

(b)    Battery issues i.e. if the battery is not functioning to full capacity then we may require access to your device for a prolonged period so as to make recommendations for better performance. Please note that battery performance can also be adversely affected by faulty chargers or dock connectors. You must therefore have tried alternative original equipment manufacturer (OEM) chargers for, and have the most recent software updates on, your device before booking in a battery replacement with us.

 

(c)     Our warranty will not apply if you have used non-OEM chargers, power banks, car chargers, charging phone cases, charging pads, plates, or any other form of battery/phone charging equipment not manufactured by the OEM. Any use of these accessories may cause damage to your device’s Chip and therefore a battery or charger port replacement is unlikely to resolve the issue.  In these circumstances you will not be entitled to a refund for products supplied.

 

(d)    Our warranty does not apply in the event of any of the following occurring in relation to a device upon which we have performed our services: (i) mishandling which causes subsequent damage to your handset; (ii) water or other liquid damage; (iii) damage or faults resulting from attempted repairs by you or any third party; (iv) software issues unrelated to the repair and/or any damage resulting from viruses or other malicious software that may have been transmitted during servicing or escaped detection; (v) any jail broken or “rooted” device; or (vi) any fault or damage unrelated to the products supplied by us under warranty. (d) Pre-repair issues/events. Our warranty does not apply if your device is jail broken or “rooted” or if, at or before the time we provide the products, there is in relation to your device: (i) a known manufacturing or performance issue which is separate from the services ordered; (ii) water or other liquid damage; (iii) any damage or fault resulting from repairs attempted by you or any third party; or (iv) any performance issue with your device’s battery.

We reserve the right to charge you if you make an invalid warranty claim.

About our Returns policy …

If you are contracting with us as a consumer and have done so other than on our premises then under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have certain rights to cancel your contract.

You have the right to cancel any contract within 14 days without giving any reason.  The cancellation period will expire after 14 days from the day of the conclusion of the contract or agreement.

To exercise the right to cancel, you must inform us of your decision to cancel by providing us with a clear statement to this effect.  This can either be done by email or in writing.

How we recycle …

The Waste Electrical or Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive requires countries to maximise separate collection and environmentally friendly processing of these items.  In the UK, all distributors (including retailers) must provide a system which allows all customers buying new electrical equipment the opportunity to recycle their old items free of charge.  We are also obligated under the Consumer Information Obligation (CIO). Should you choose to purchase new electrical equipment from us then we can offer you free advice on recycling.

Disclaimers …

There may, from time to time, be delays in obtaining and/or supplying products to you.  These may include (but are not limited to the following):

(a) Us having to deal with technical problems or make minor technical changes;

(b) A requirement to update the product so as to reflect any changes in relevant legislation and/or regulatory requirements;

(c) Initiating any changes to the product as requested by you or, in the alternative, notified by us to you

All our products and services are subject to conditions.  Therefore, by placing an order with us you expressly:-

(a) Authorise and consent to us performing the necessary services on your device;

(b) Acknowledge that we may have to reset the manufacturer’s factory/default settings for your device, and that this process might delete any data, personal information or settings held on your product;

(c) Acknowledge that you are solely responsible for removal of any SIM card, memory card, case, screen protector or other accessory from your device prior to engaging our services;

(d) Acknowledge that you must back up your device prior to our provision of services;

(e) Agree that where our services relate (in any way) to liquid damage on your device: (i) there is no guarantee that we will be able to repair your device, and (ii) our warranty does not apply;

(f) Agree that it is your responsibility to provide accurate information regarding your device (including model and condition) and to detail any modifications or repairs that have previously been attempted or completed whether by us or another repair service.

We reserve the right to perform a basic diagnosis of your device to evaluate its condition. If the device is in noticeably different condition than described to us then you agree that additional charges may apply.

How we use your personal information …

 

We will only ever use your personal information (a) to supply the products to you; (b) to process your payment for the products and/or services; and (c) if you agree to this during the order process.

Under new data protection legislation you have the right to request that we amend or delete any personal information held about you. You can do this by notifying us in writing.

We will never provide your personal information to any other third parties unless we are required to do so by law.

All personal data is held in accordance with the requirements laid down by the Data Protection Act 1998 and any subsequent legislation.
